Consists of a number of ground stations. All the stations can receive a signal from oue same aircraft while a central processing unit calculates the aircraft’s position from the time difference of arrival (TDOA) of the signal at different antennas.

Used for airport surface, terminal area and wide area (air route/airspace) surveillance，by rearranging the number and locations of the ground stations.
